The eLearning course was developed to help youth workers, educators and youth organisations better understand the difference between symbolic participation and genuine inclusion. Through interactive content, reflection tasks, quizzes, case studies and practical examples, the course supports learners in recognising tokenism in youth work settings and developing more meaningful, participatory and inclusive approaches. The course is also presented as one of the main project results on the official project website, together with other tools such as the Inclusion Index Calculator, Inclusion Toolkit, International Network for Genuine Inclusion and Declaration on Authentic Inclusion.
During the testing session, participants had the opportunity to go through the eLearning content, assess its structure and provide feedback on the clarity of the materials, relevance of the examples, usability of the platform and overall learning experience. The feedback received was highly positive. Youth workers highlighted that the course is easy to follow, visually clear and strongly connected to real situations they encounter in their everyday work with young people. They especially appreciated the practical orientation of the materials, which do not only explain the concept of tokenism, but also offer concrete guidance on how to move towards authentic inclusion.
The testing also confirmed that the course can be used in different national and organisational contexts. Since the participants came from four countries, their feedback helped the project team assess whether the content is understandable, transferable and relevant beyond one local context. This was particularly important because the course is designed for a wide European audience and aims to empower youth professionals and young people with practical skills and strategies for achieving authentic inclusion.
Participants also emphasised that the eLearning course can be a useful tool for internal training within youth organisations, preparation of youth workers before activities, and awareness-raising among teams that want to improve their inclusion practices. In this sense, the course contributes directly to the wider objective of the Beyond Tokenism project: to support youth organisations in moving away from symbolic diversity and towards participation that is meaningful, ethical and based on real influence.
The successful testing session showed that the eLearning course is ready to support youth workers across Europe in strengthening their competences and reflecting on their own practices. The collected feedback will be used to make final improvements before wider promotion and use of the course among youth organisations, educators and other stakeholders committed to genuine inclusion.
Through this activity, the project partnership once again confirmed the importance of co-creation, testing and direct involvement of youth work professionals in the development of educational tools. Their insights ensure that the final result is not only theoretically relevant, but also practical, accessible and useful in everyday youth work.
